Because the relatively simple designs lend themselves well to contemporary décor, they have now become somewhat chic as floor coverings in Europe and the U.S.. Traditionally, a rug made to be used by the weaver would have been woven quickly with large knots and lower quality materials since it's purpose was use, not income. Since the U.S. lifted the embargo of Iranian rugs we have seen many of these Gabbeh rugs appear on the market. Orient has Iranian Gabbeh rugs which are woven very fine and with the highest quality Iranian wool available. The finished rugs are as plush, and the wool as silky as the most finely woven decorative Persian rugs.
